We have not received our household goods yet. It should be here Friday! It has not been fun camping out on an air mattress and no chairs. But the worst part was getting use to the daylight all night long. It is hard to tell what time of the day it is. We end up staying up later then usual. I added a picture of 3 am and our modified bedroom window.

New addition to the family
We picked up a puppy from an animal adoption center yesterday. No name yet, but it was a good day for the kids.

Fairbanks, AK
We ended up with 4,660 miles on the odometer. That's a little more than it should be since we drove some extra miles during our Yellowstone stop. The trip went very well with no mechanical problems. The truck did get a very big chip on the windshield during the final 50 miles, so we'll have to replace it.
We picked up the silver truck today and yes, you guessed it, it was damaged during shipment. The roof rack is severely damaged.
On a much better note, we found a house to rent and we should be able to start moving in sometime next week. Our HHG are still waiting for the boat so that might take another week or two.
Cheers!

We made it to Alaska today. We are spending the night in Tok and have a short 3 hour drive tomorrow to Fairbanks.

Haines Junction
The odometer reads over 4,100 miles now. We are in Haines Junction tonight, our last stop before crossing the Alaska border, at last! Today's drive was as beautiful as yesterday, with much less wildlife (only 3 bears spotted). The road was a bit more crowded too. Turns out the Alcan is much more populated than we were expecting. Here are a few shots from today: the worlds largest weathervane of the Whitehorse airport, and the view from our hotel tonight.

Watson Lake, YT
Today we made it another 350+ miles to Watson Lake, YT. This is by far the best stretch of road we have seen, as far as scenery and wildlife. The road takes you back into the Rocky mountains, further Northwest into British Columbia and Yukon Territory.
The rivers and lakes are still partially covered in ice and snow. The wildlife is everywhere. We saw moose, elk, stone sheep, buffalo, brown and black bears.
We took lots of pictures. Here are a few for your enjoyment.

Fort Nelson part deux
Since we had some time on our hands, we decided to tour the area. We had a good time and met some pretty friendly folks.
Fort Nelson, BC
Short 300 mile drive today. The stretch between Dawson Creek and Fort Nelson is much more populated than we thought, mainly by the oil and gas industry. The truck was able to pull the car the whole way without refueling. Fuel in Fort Nelson is a bit pricey. It usually costs me around $72.00 to fill up, but today was $113.00... Ouch!
Here are some shots from the drive here, and the lovely view from our hotel window. Tomorrow we head to Watson Lake, with a stop at the Liard Hot Springs on the way. Talk to you soon!

Dawson creek (2)
Here is an updated map of our road trip to come. We were planning on stopping in Whitehorse, Yukon but all hotels were booked. We found a nice place a bit further up the road in Haines Junction. Each leg of driving will be around 5 to 7 hours long, with the exception of the final leg to Fairbanks.
We may not be able to post on this blog as regularly as we have been, due to limited internet access in remote areas. Cheers.

Dawson Creek, BC
After a well needed break from driving we drove to Dawson Creek today. Which puts 3150 miles on our odometer (only 1489 miles to go). This is mile 0 of the Alcan. We have planned the rest of our trip in shorter driving days, so that we can sight see along the way.

Edmonton
We made it to Edmonton yesterday. We are staying at the west mall hotel, a much nicer place than the Lethbridge Travelodge). The mall is similar to the mall of America. There are many things to do beside shopping. The kids enjoyed the mall's indoor amusement park and they are excited to go to the water park later today.
This is our last breather before we tackle the alcan tomorrow. The odometer reads just over 2,800 miles. Sorry no pictures yet. I will post some later today.

Canada!
We are now in Lethbridge, Canada. Our next day will take us to Edmonton where we will stay until Saturday morning. We are looking forward to spending time at the west mall and enjoying the water park. By the way, if you choose to travel to lethbridge, do not stay at the Travelodge...
Driving through Montana
We left Yellowstone this morning and headed further north. The odometer finally went over the half-way point of our road trip at 2,300 miles!

Yellowstone take 2
Spent the day exploring Yellowstone and ended it with a pizza by our hotel. The kids loved the park even though the temperature dropped to a cool 42 degrees. Tomorrow we will spend our first night in Canada, eh.

Yellowstone National Park, WY
After driving through Cody, we finally reached Yellowstone. The odometer now reads over 2,000 miles. We are almost half-way there...
We are spending another day in the park before driving further north. Yellowstone is beautiful.
